Here, in the “Maison du Maître de Digues” (Master of the dykes’s house) lived a key person in the Marais Poitevin : The Master of the Dykes! Elected by the owners of the Petit Poitou marsh union, he had a lot of responsibilities : making sure the dykes, the canals and the locks were correctly maintained and working properly, but also making sure the inhabitants of the marsh were following the rules!

This walk is only available to people visiting the “Maison du Maître de Digues” (Master of the dykes’s house) and during opening hours to this ecomuseum. You’ll need to pay for the entries to the Maison du Maître de Digues (master of the dykes’s house) (5€/adult, free for under 18 year olds)
